Innovative lighting solutions, garden design solutions and groundbreaking products – including an informative mirror – will be on display at this year’s home design and accessories show Grand Designs Live from April 30 until May 8 in London.
In 2010 the annual design event, based loosely on the TV show of the same name, attracted around 47,000 visitors and featured winning designs from the Electrolux Design Lab competition as part of the House of the Future display.
Some of the highlights of this year’s event, the seventh of its kind, are the Iconic Interiors display, Light My Home, the Garden Design Studio and the 2011 incarnation of the House of the Future. Things you won’t find on Amazon Lightning
The House of the Future showcases the latest home technologies such as the Cybertechture mirror – a mirror that lists information regarding the traffic, weather and stock market, for example, while you brush your teeth.
Other technologies in the House of the Future include Bathomatic, which, at the touch of a mouse, will automatically run a bath, complete with bubbles, to the user’s exact requirements before he or she arrives home.
Both Iconic Interiors and Light My Home provide a design aspect to the show; sponsored by Dulux and Philips respectively, Iconic Interiors examines design inspired by and based around classic furniture, while Light My Home focuses on modern-day lighting solutions.

Prior to Grand Designs Live the Kitchen and Bathroom Show in Las Vegas April 26-28 will showcase the latest in bathroom design and is expected to attract over 200,000 visitors.
